Big Boss Band

Bill LaValley has been played bass guitar in the Kalamazoo and West Michigan blues scene for the last twenty years. He started playing in Ken Goodacre and Blues Inc., joined Big Daddy Green and the King Sized Blues Band and toured with Dr. Bones of the Skeletones for a year. While performing with the Blue Moon Blues Band for nine years,l the band won a WYCE Jammie for Best Blues. Billy partnered with Bryan Michael Fischer in 2010 to form the BMF BAND, winning the Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association (KVBA) Blues Challenge and went to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge.

Billy has taken on multiple roles while in each band including song writing, booking agent, band manager, sound engineer and of course bass player. With six CD’s to his credit, Bill LaValley has become a standard bearer for the blues in West Michigan especially Kalamazoo. Billy has been described as an “in the pocket” player and is counted on both on and off stage to keep his bands on course.

Most recently, in 2012, Billy was asked to join in a blues jam with fellow area bluesmen and Big Boss Blues was the result. Charles Schantz on guitar met and played with Billy fifteen years ago and so this band is a continuation of their relationship with each other and the blues. Big Boss Blues is a combination of blues, soul and R&B while staying true to classic blues roots that Billy describes as his passion.

Sundry

Stacks Image 105856
The band Sundry started as a small group of friends pursuing degrees in music & worship at Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, MI. It began with a leap of faith from leading lady Jessica Veenemen. Her and her husband Eric decided to take the risk and embrace the music industry going forward the best ways they knew how.

Within a year the band Sundry found itself making leaps and bounds in the music industry. Recording and producing a six track EP, getting paid to play music in front of hundreds of people time and time again, winning talent competitions, and creating connections with record label producing artists and radio stations.

The band continues to sharpen their sound, but listeners will hear a fresh blend of rock & blues combined with the flavor of a singer/songwriter. Their inspirations are heavily influenced by artists such as Ben Rector and NEEDTOBREATHE. In every way Sundry seeks to make a name for themselves by bringing people together through their music. "We see a broken world out there and we realize we cannot fix it. What we can do, however, is shine a light and let people know that they are not alone; they indeed have value and have every reason to celebrate life." - The Band Sundry
